I strongly support balancing our budgets and reducing our national debt, but trying to do so during a major recession is insane and counter-productive. We should have been doing that when the economy was strong, but most politicians were too gutless, lazy or stupid to do so.

We shouldn't expect average Americans to be economic experts, but it sure would be nice if our so-called "leaders" in government had a clue. If we slip into a second recession, be sure to thank all those newfound deficit hawks.
